I’ve been avoiding writing on my Substack for a few months now. Partially because I don’t know what I want to say. Partially because I have too much to say. Partially because I don’t know what I want to write about. Partially because I don’t want to write about what I’ve been writing about.
I guess that’s the beauty in it all.
This newsletter is mine. I can be exactly what I want it to be.
I don’t really have a desire for this to be huge or change my life by monetizing it.
What I really want from my writing on here is for it to allow me a place to think. The people’s newsletters I envy most are those who are open, honest, and raw — Paul Millerd, bookbear express, and Lyle McKeany.
What I want to do is to just share. To express myself. To ask questions. To write. To be vulnerable. To inquire. To seek. To fail. To stand back up. To get lost in rabbit holes. To come up for air. To share.
Most importantly, to let things flow freely — I think this is where the good stuff happens.
Riseyear always will be about seeking and exploring. It’s just who I am and the mission I’ve decided to pursue. I think it’s just time I lean a bit more into it instead of treading water in the shallow end.
Usually, the hardest part is just starting. I’ve started and stopped so many things in my almost quarter-century of living (something I’d love to dive into later) and this is one of the things that I always come back to. Must be a sign. I don’t think anything beats writing consistently, especially in public.
Not only is it cathartic to get your ideas and emotions out of your head. It helps others going through something similar understand they aren’t alone — it brings more humanity to life.
In this case, it’s hitting “publish”, even when the work isn’t 100%.
Love this!
This is the most relatable thing I’ve read on the internet in a really long time. Something I’ve also learned is that the more we try to create any form of creativity in hopes of being more relatable or to monetize, the less authentic we become. The beauty is in authenticity. Flowing creativity from your intuition. That’s how you find the secret sauce
